made from scratch

Our story…

Denise Cara has always been baking. After studying nutrition and food science, she worked in restaurant management, food service, and hospitality before becoming a registered dietitian. Throughout it all, she found herself stopping on a dime to peer into bakery windows for inspiration. She honed her skills at home as a wife and mother, constantly trying new ways to use the best ingredients available, creating simple, wholesome, and delicious food for her family and friends.

While living in East Hampton, New York, Denise worked directly with the culinary contessa, Ina Garten, before launching the bakery program at Amber Waves Farm. There, she developed each recipe, testing products over and over until they were perfect. She quickly became known throughout the East End for consistent quality, and just about the best blueberry muffins ever.

Now a resident of Bell Island, Denise is sharing her love of baking with the community. Everything we bake is homemade in small batches with no preservatives. Freshly baked goods are available for purchase exclusively at the Rowayton Farmers Market, Fridays from 12-5pm.

When not baking, you’ll find Denise enjoying life on Bell Island, appreciating the natural beauty of this special place she is proud to call home!
